Hello, I’m Halima, Registered Nurse, Childbirth Educator and Postpartum Doula.
My professional background includes over a decade of postpartum nursing. I’ve worked with hundreds of families in the role of maternal-child nurse. My main areas of attention were health promotion, education, and supporting the mental and emotional well-being of new mothers. I now use my nursing experience to offer evidence-based guidance for families during the sometimes challenging and deeply meaningful period following birth.
I am the founder of Simply Living In Harmony Inc, our mission is to create a world where women value investing in their wellness and self-care with a holistic approach, we support clients through wellness and education, and we believe that it takes a village to raise a family.
As a racialized woman, I understand the disparities women who look like me face, when accessing maternal health services. My goal is to help other racialized young women engage in healthy pregnancies, births, and parental experiences. In addition, a crucial component of my practice it is to mentor, uphold, and educate all women.
I am the mother of five children. I am trilingual, speaking English, Arabic, and Somali. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, and feeding my family wholesome meals. I love essential oils and using aromatherapy in my day-to-day life. I also love practicing hot yoga!
I am so looking forward to serving both the parenting and birth worker communities with my skills, passion for motherhood, and talents.
