Biography:

My passion to become a Doula came to me at the age of 12 when her mother was pregnant with her sister. Experiencing first hand the ups and downs that flowed from pregnancy to birth (…and beyond), cemented my desire to care for mom and baby. After (literally) bumping into a midwifery student on the TTC one day I realized she could turn her passion into a career. I am a trained Labour and Postpartum Doula (with CAPPA, 2016 & ProDoula 2019). My doula arsenal includes:

  • Breast/Chest Feeding (20 hour Course)
  • Advanced Comfort Measures Techniques
  • Developing the Bond Between Mother and Baby
  • Sex/Intimacy After Birth
  • Pelvic Floor Health
  • New Parent Education and Tanicia looks forward to Infant Massage classes in 2019.

With 2 teenaged sisters at home I am the unofficial “period expert” in my family and among friends. I am also fiercely passionate about social justice issues especially those that affect women, and I have led women’s health seminars and ‘Lunch n Learn’ sessions at previous jobs. Lastly I LOVE to travel and I have lived & worked with families in Italy and Spain; as well as volunteered in Germany, Ukraine and India. I am a founding member of the Ontario Black Doula Society. I am older sister. I am a dancer. I am a motivational speaker and have spoken in front of 40000 people in total so far! I come from humble beginnings and would love to share that with you. I LOVE desert waffles, like it is kind of a problem, but I’m okay with it!
