Policy Manager

Mino Care is looking for an experienced Policy Manager who will oversee the development of a petition and policy initiatives for Black maternal health in Canada. The ideal candidate will be an excellent team player and self-starter with strong project management and communication skills. The role requires demonstrated knowledge of birth and reproductive justice, the Canadian health care system and policies, human rights, and respectful maternal care strategies and methods.

Roles/Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

● Under the direction of the Executive Director, leads and manages petition and policy initiatives and strategies for Black maternal health

● Develops and implements organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and standards

● Conducts/utilizes research using qualitative and quantitative methods to inform the organization's policy agenda

● Drafts policy documents, including guidelines, standards and procedures, ensuring clarity, accuracy and effectiveness

● Develop partnerships that help inform and promote policy positions and recommendations

● Monitors the impact of implemented policies, analysing performance data and feedback to identify areas for improvement

● Trains staff on new and existing policies

● Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein

Qualifications

● A bachelor’s or master’s degree in public health, public policy, health law, healthcare administration or other related fields

● 3-5 years of experience in policy, health, social justice and experience working in the fields of public health, reproductive justice, human rights, social services and/or maternal/perinatal health

● Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Docs

● Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and within tight deadlines

● Ability to apply strategic and detail-oriented skills

● Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills.

● Experience discerning and translating research project outcomes

Time Commitment:

30 hours a week- 12 months contracted (possibility of renewal).
